  Council Scholar Program 2011-2012 (Germany/Austria/Switzerland - German Speaking Region)

The World Affairs Council of Charlotte is pleased to announce the Council Scholar Awards (Germany) for   the 2011-2012 school year. The Council Scholar Program offers a unique opportunity for selected German language teachers (K-12) in public and independent schools to go to Germany, Austria or Switzerland (*German speaking region).

 

Teachers may also choose to participate in local German education and/or German professional development program in the greater Charlotte area.

 

This program is funded by the German Language and Culture Foundation.

 

Applications must be received by 4 p.m. on Friday, January 21st, 2012 They may mailed or hand delivered to the Council.

The World Affairs Council of Charlotte  and German Language and Culture Foundation are committed to the expansion of international education in area schools. The Council Scholar Program (Germany) is designed to annually reward a few outstanding German language teachers, grades K-12, in our community who have demonstrated a commitment to international education.

The Council Scholar Program not only gives the recipient visibility and recognition, but also provides rewarding educational experiences.  The 2011-2012 Scholar will enjoy:

·         Recognition at our 2012 World Citizen Award Dinner
·         Invitations to special Council programs and dinner receptions
·         Lifetime Council membership
·         The opportunity to coordinate seminars and roundtable discussions with past scholars and experts
            for curriculum development, content enrichment, classroom resources and professional interaction
·         A scholarship of up to $2500 (programs abroad or locally in the greater Charlotte area)

Not only is the program designed to honor exemplary educators, but it will also enhance the Scholars’ international educational experiences in order to further impact their classrooms, schools and communities.
