Son of former Soviet Prime Minister Nikita Khrushchev, Dr. Sergei Khrushchev to address World Affairs Council of Charlotte: “Russia after Putin”

Charlotte, N.C – Son of former Soviet Prime Minister Nikita Khrushchev, Dr. Sergei Khrushchev will speak on “Russia after Putin” at the WACC Speaker Series Program on January 22, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. at the Westin (Charlotte Charlotte). The WACC Speaker Series Program with Dr. Khrushchev is co-sponsored by General Dynamics.  

Khrushchev has been an eyewitness to the Cold War, the dissolution of the Soviet Union and the establishment of the Russian state. Originally a missile engineer in the USSR, Khrushchev is now a U.S. citizen and a frequent commentator for the U.S. media including CNN, NPR, and Newsweek. He is also a senior fellow at the Watson Institute of International Studies (Brown University) and an author of more than 250 books and articles on Russian history, politics, economy, the Cold War, and the US-Russia relationship.  He is currently working on his new book, “Nikita Khrushchev’s Reforms.”

Seats at the luncheon are limited. Members of WACC pay $50 and non-members pay $65 (lunch is included).  A private dinner with Dr. Khrushchev is also being offered at the Charlotte City Club at 7:30 p.m. for $250 (dinner and wine is included.
