World Affairs Council of Charlotte (WACC) Hosts James E.
Rogers, CEO of Duke Energy at Speaker Series Luncheon
Program.
WHAT:
Duke Energy chairman, president, and chief executive
officer, James E. Rogers, will speak on “Duke Energy's
Role in Building a Low-Carbon Global Economy” at the
World Affairs Council Speaker Series Luncheon, Thursday,
Aug. 21, 2008.
There’s a real need for a “secure, sustainable, and
affordable supply of energy now, and for future
generations,” according to Jim Rogers. He points out that
the most successful countries today are also energy
efficient. In addition, he supports the opinion that China,
India, and other developing countries need to be engaged
towards purposeful changes in the way the world views energy
and natural resources. As a visionary, he’s directing Duke
Energy in changing its entire business model to forestall
global warming and positively impact climate change.
Rogers will offer his perspectives on key energy, economic
and environmental challenges faced by the world today. He
will also address Duke Energy’s response to global climate
change.
