Tim Weiner, Pulitzer Prize Winning Journalist and Author of "Legacy of Ashes: History of the CIA" to Speak at WACC Speaker Series Luncheon on Sept. 30, 2008

“Legacy of Ashes: The History of the CIA”

Charlotte, N.C. - The World Affairs Council of Charlotte together with corporate sponsor, Keane Capital Management will host Tim Weiner, Pulitzer Prize winning journalist, National Book Award Winner (2007) and author of Legacy of Ashes: The History of the CIA at the WACC Speaker Series Luncheon, September 30, 2008, 12 p.m. at the Westin.

The lunch presentation will discuss his book, Legacy of Ashes: History of the CIA. Weiner describes the failures of intelligence gathering and mismanagement of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) which has catapulted the U.S. into greater danger of a national security meltdown. 

Tim Weiner is a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist who has reported on American intelligence from around the world for more than 20 years.  He is the author of three books, including the National Book Award winner LEGACY OF ASHES, which was a New York Times best-seller, and appeared on many "Best Books of 2007" lists in the U.S. and the UK.  

Weiner will also be speaking at CPCC’s Overcash Performing Arts Center (Tate Hall) at 6:00 PM the same day. Reservations for the luncheon and evening presentation can be made online at www.worldaffairscharlotte.org or by calling 704-687-7762.

Registration for the luncheon is $ 40 for WACC members and $ 50 for non-members while registration for the evening presentation is $ 10 for WACC members and $ 15 for non-members. His book, “Legacy of Ashes: History of the CIA” will be made available for sale for $15.00 at the luncheon and evening presentation.
