Anabel González was appointed Minister of Foreign Trade of Costa Rica on May 8, 2010. In such capacity, she oversees the country’s international trade and investment portfolios.
Ms. González has extensive experience in the formulation and advocacy of trade and investment policies; negotiation and implementation of trade agreements; building of trade-related institutional capacity; management of trade capacity building projects; enhancing the investment climate; and, promoting foreign direct investment.
Ms. González began her involvement in the area of trade and investment in 1990 at the Ministry of Foreign Trade of Costa Rica, first as Director General (1990-97) and then as Vice-Minister of Foreign Trade (1998-2001).
She has a law degree from the University of Costa Rica and a master of laws degree from Georgetown University.
