Christopher J. Kearney is Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of SPX Corporation (NYSE: SPX), a global Fortune 500 multi-industry manufacturing leader with over $5 billion in annual revenue, operations in more than 35 countries and approximately 16,000 employees. SPX’s innovative products and technologies are helping to meet rising global demand for electricity, processed foods and beverages, and vehicle services – particularly in emerging markets.
Mr. Kearney joined SPX in 1997 as Vice President, Secretary and General Counsel. He was named President, Chief Executive Officer and a Director in December 2004.
Prior to joining SPX, Mr. Kearney served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Grimes Aerospace Company, a leading manufacturer of aircraft lighting equipment, engine system components and electronic systems. He also previously held the positions of Senior Attorney at Borg-Warner Chemicals and Senior Counsel at General Electric’s global materials business.
Mr. Kearney has spoken about global energy infrastructure issues at numerous events held by the World Economic Forum, World Energy Congress, The Wall Street Journal CEO Council and the Detroit Economic Club. Additionally, he is a member of the Board of Directors of Nucor Corporation; the Advisory Council for University Libraries, University of Notre Dame; and the Board of the Foundation for the Carolinas, one of the largest community-based organizations in the United States.
Mr. Kearney earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and a law degree from DePaul University Law School.
