Ljubomir
Stambuk
Ljubomir
(L.J.)
Stambuk
was
born
in
Belgrade,
Yugoslavia
and
now
resides
in
Charlotte.
As a
child
and
young
man,
LJ
traveled
extensively
around
the
world
with
his
diplomat
family,
including
living
for
4
years
in
Burma
and
Holland,
respectively.
He
received
his
undergraduate
degree
in
International
Economics
and
Business
from
the
University
of
Belgrade,
where
he
graduated
in
the
top
1%.
Stambuk
also
received
a
Master’s
degree
in
Business
and
Organizational
Development
from
Cornell
University.
L.J.
has
over
20
years
of
senior
leadership
experience
in
operations
management,
business
development,
marketing,
human
resources
and
strategic
planning.
He
served
as
COO
of
Applied
Semiconductor,
Inc.
a
coating
and
technology
company,
Senior
Vice
President
of
Ahold
USA,
Inc.,
a
leading
multinational
retail
company,
and
Executive
Vice
President
for
Global
Markets
and
Division
President
for
Centrocoop,
Inc.,
a
major
European
international
trade
corporation.
L.J.
moved
to
Charlotte
in
2006
and
became
the
Executive
Director
of
The
World
Affairs
Council
of
Charlotte,
an
international
education
non-profit.
During
his
tenure
he,
built-up
the
organization
both
in
membership,
community
visibility
and
standing,
and
managed
to
lead
the
non-profit
during
the
recession
to
the
best
financial
performance
since
its’
founding
25
years
ago.
He
is
credited
in
succeeding
in
engaging
the
greater
Charlotte
community
in
the
international
affairs
dialogue
by
bringing
high-level
speakers
to
the
area
to
discuss
international
economics,
global
politics
and
Charlotte’s
role
in
the
world.
L.J.
is
also
engaged
in
helping
attract
foreign
and
global
companies
to
Charlotte.
He
was
promoted
to
WACC
President
in
2010.
